Through a series of outside acquisitions and friendships that grew between the years of 2003-2012, Regional Vice President Mary McCallister came to lead Sunset’s North Carolina office (the 2nd of our branches) in 2013, bringing with her an entrepreneurial vision of service, integrity, and a bottom-up approach to arranging logistics. They ship a wide variety of commodities, from large agricultural implements to peanuts; ice melt to hot sauce!

Managing Director – Mary McCallister
Mary McCallister has extensive experience in industrial transportation with a strong focus towards family-owned and large commercial businesses. After managing the logistics and trucking fleets in several high-profile companies (including Lowe’s and Home Depot), Mary was recruited to run the southern flatbed division for Cardinal Logistics on the cutting edge of the owner/operator fleet management concept. In 2003 she was tasked to lead Cargo Master’s North Carolina branch office and began her relationship as an LTL customer of Sunset Transportation. In 2013, Mary joined the Sunset team where they currently arrange a wide variety of commodity shipments with a signature Southern charm, reliable execution, and a true knowledge of their customers’ supply chain needs.
What Sunset’s Mission Means to Me: As a former LTL customer of Sunset, I was aware of Sunset’s sterling reputation for customer service. When the opportunity presented itself to join the team, I was immediately impressed by the transparency and bottom-up vision the company still maintains to this day.
“What does working at Sunset Transportation mean to me? It means doing a job that I’m excited about getting up in the morning and going to. It’s about a job that I take home with me at night and don’t even mind. I have worked other places and I can tell you Sunset is different and until you have worked for an Employee Focused Company you don’t know what you’re missing. The only way to do great work is to love what you do and who you do it for. I am happy to be a part of the Sunset Family.”
